Dr. Nome Rose De Lima Essoh is a Lecturer-Researcher at the Department of History, Alassane Ouattara University, Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire. A historian, she is a specialist in social and cultural history, and her research activities centre on the functioning of traditional African societies, particularly Odzukru (southern region of Cote d’Ivoire). In Odzukru county, her research location, she observes, analyzes, and describes the various social, cultural, and even religious changes that have taken place in this society.
A brewery society, it is traditionally rich in its centuries-old culture. Its openness to the outside world due to its geographical location has made the Odzukru county an area of intense economic and social activity causing major social upheavals. The Odzukru county, therefore, remains a constantly changing area that requires relevant investigations. She is also interested in the issue of the role of women in traditional and modern African societies.
